🎉 It's New Year's Eve! 🎉 We are closing out 2022 with a beautiful sunrise this morning, another spring-like ski day ahead, and looking forward to fireworks and poppin' bottles this evening. 2022 will always mark the beginning of our adventures here at Unofficial Okemo and we can't wait to see what 2023 brings (hopefully powder days, blooper reels, and no broken bones). Thanks for joining our community, for sharing it with your ski buddies, and for trusting in our little passion project. Cheers! Now on with today's update...
It was another warm start as Felix, Danny, and Noah made their way up for the last hike of the year. The trails were a little glazed over from the night before but the cats were out re-grooming and making the snow nice and soft for us. The farther up the mountain we hiked the warmer it got. This is called an inversion, where the summit is warmer than the base. Due to the weather, the trails are getting a little thin out there so be aware. As always the Mountain Operations team works with what they have to deliver the best possible product.
Après Tip: Hit up Après Afternoons: Holiday Edition again today at the Jackson Gore Courtyard for live music featuring Dustin Marshall from 2 to 5 p.m. 🎶 Tonight, Okemo Mountain is hosting a NYE Party from 5 to 8 p.m. with fireworks, food, games, and live music.
All 20 lifts are in operation today with 65 trails, that's just over 50% of terrain open. The Pull is running in The Zone for all you park lovers. There is a machine-groomed surface today but the snow is soft so natural moguls are likely to develop, which means there is fun to be had on the sides of the trail. Temperatures are expected to climb today ranging in the 40s and potentially reaching the 50s. We are expecting partly cloudy skies so enjoy the sun when you get it. It will be very comfortable to be outside and enjoy the snow!
