As the weekend comes to a close on this crisp Sunday, the snowmakers are taking advantage of the ideal snowmaking temps and working around the clock to clean up Mother Nature's mess. They have begun tidying up the obvious trails and bare spots and will continue to restore and reinforce the existing terrain while creating plans to expand the skiable acreage.
It was an absolutely gorgeous morning during the hike up to the summit of Okemo. We haven’t had a bluebird day with a sunrise like that in a long time, but it was worth the wait. Connor, Noah, and Felix headed out amid the snow guns blazing on Arrow and Sapphire. They were working hard making snow across the mountain and will have SouthFace closed today to allow the team to work on reinforcing and expanding that section of the mountain.
Today's quick facts:
🎿 Trail Count: 62
🚡 Lift Count: 17
🔫 Snowmaking: Sweet Solitude, Countdown, Sapphire, Arrow, & Base Area
🌡️ Weather: Low-mid 20s
Pro Tip: Don't ski directly under the snow guns. The snow surface will be sticky and your goggles are likely to freeze up.
The snow was soft this morning as the groomers smoothed out the fresh snowmaking. They were still putting on the finishing touches as we headed down. The cold weather that came in last night will remain today which is a pleasant change. Temperatures are expected to hang in the low to mid-20s today with Bluebird skies. Honestly, it will be one of the very few sunny and bluebird days we get in Vermont so get out and enjoy it today.
