24. Friday, December 15th, 2023

Hey there readers! Jessie here with your Friday snow report. I didn't get an early start today, and it was pretty balmy by the time I pulled into the parking lot at Jackson Gore. At the last minute I decided to add one more light layer since I'd heard it was windy, which turned out to be the right call. On my first run I headed across the bridge away from JG, and by the time I hit the top of the Solitude lift I felt that wind folks were talking about! It's a beautiful but blustery day out on the mountain today - both bubble lifts are on hold for wind so plan accordingly!

'Tis the season for holiday shopping so why not support your favorite small business and snow reporting crew by gifting one of our super cool merch items! 🎁

Despite the wind, getting around the mountain was no problem thanks to Sachem, Glades Peak, and Black Ridge lifts. After some runs at Solitude, I headed across the mountain. I had read something on Facebook yesterday about death cookies on Lower Arrow, so I skied over to see what all the fuss was about. The Okemo team did a fabulous job with grooming and there were no cookies to be found - the snow was actually a bit more sticky than crumbly. Next I had a blast on Wardance, my favorite trail of the day - soft snow and totally empty! Overall there were a few sticky spots across the mountain in high traffic areas at the bottom of lifts, but most of the snow was soft but still cold.

Today's Quick Facts:

🏔️ Trail Count: 42/122

🚡 Lift Count: 9/20

⛷️ Today's Ski: Nordica Santa Ana

I was actually excited that the wind gave me an excuse to ride Sachem and Glades Peak lifts for the first time this year. I certainly wasn't the only one pausing for a photo op at the top of Glades Peak today! 📷 From there, I was able to take my favorite big long run all the way back down to the bottom of Jackson Gore. I always start out via Buckhorn and end with Jack-a-lope to Southern Crossing, but love how many options you have for different trails in the middle. Today I went with Sweet Solitude to Coleman Brook, back around on Mountain Road and down the Plunge before heading over to Jack-a-lope. Though Wardance was my favorite individual trail today, I also really loved my last run that took me all the way across the mountain. This long variable route is one of my favorite ways to end my ski day. ⛷️

Pro Tip: If you have lots of pets like me, be sure to hide your gear from them. Our new puppy Willow chewed holes in several nice ski socks this week - she's lucky she's so cute! 😆

Our friends at The Boot Pro will be hosting a Free Demo Day tomorrow! 🎿 If you are interested in some new gear or just want to test out this year's hot new skis, you don't want to miss it. You can register online here. We hope to see you there!
