Good Morning, everyone, It's Noah, typos and all. I woke up today at 5 am, snoozed the alarm and got out of bed shortly after 5:30 am and pulled into the parking lot at 5:47 am. Pretty slick if you ask me. 😎 Ted pulled in just after me, but his excuse was that he was busy folding laundry. We were on snow just before 6 am, and with no sign of Felix and Jen, we were off. Things were much quieter than yesterday. There was no snowmaking going on, but the cats 🐈 were still out making their rounds. We were setting a good pace but we had a group on our heels the whole way up. Just as we were cresting Upper Sapphire, the couple caught us, and Felix and Jen were hunting us down the whole time. With the whole group together we pushed to the summit, made a quick changeover, and we were off...⛷️
The snow was soft with the warmer temperatures and we were ripping it! 🤗 It was awesome! Visibility was a little tough though. As soon as we started skiing it started to rain... weird coincidence. Low light, overcast skies, and a little precipitation can make it challenging. 🌧️ That being said, in the couple of hours since then, it changed to snow, back to rain, then stopped altogether. Don't be surprised if you get something of that nature out there today.

We are already seeing a warming trend for Christmas this year, and there is the potential for some precipitation later next week; I don't want to say it, but it will most likely be rain. 😭 After that, temperatures are looking to drop as we head into 2024, so keep your heads up! The weather has been really tough this year, but the mountain ops team has been doing a fantastic job; the skiing the past few days is impressive. 🙏
Pro Tip: Christmas Day typically sees less crowds, get out and enjoy some skiing before you open presents!
If you live in Ludlow, you are likely connected to the tourism industry. That means you are ramping up for a busy week, long hours, and stressful days, all while everyone else is enjoying themselves with time off work or enjoying vacation. 🥳 It can be hard to find the time to relax, hang out with family, or simply catch your breath through the craziness. I am not an expert in keeping cool through it all, but I do know these little morning hikes are a way for me to stay grounded, refreshed, and ready to tackle the day. 🌅
To everyone visiting, remember to be kind to our service workers, mountain employees, and fellow skiers. Ludlow will be busy, the mountain will be busy, and it can be tempting to take our lack of snow frustration out on others. At the end of the day, remember why we all are here, to have fun and enjoy time with friends and family. 🥰 If you think about it, we are just sliding down on frozen water with some pieces of wood strapped to our feet, it's a funny sport; it should be fun, not stressful.
Alright, I will get off my high horse; expect a short report tomorrow after we get out with some friends and family. Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates, and if you don't enjoy the skiing tomorrow. It is typically a little less crowded, and everyone is a little more friendly to be skiing on Christmas Day.
