"If you don't want to get wet, then don't go". 🌧️ But, if you like playing in the rain and want to have a ridiculous rainy ski day memory, then today was your day. We hope you wore your waterproof gear, preferably in a bright color to spot your friends through the fog. Today's snow report is a unique one; a group effort from some of Okemo's ski instructors (shoutout Riley and Brigid Karl). ✌️ Noah and I were working today, and neither of us could enjoy some turns on this absolutely beautiful day, unfortunately. Instead, our snow reporter elves helped make today's update happen. Enjoy! ⬇️

Slushy. Foggy. Wet. Springlike. Just a few obvious words to sum up today's conditions. While Okemo's snowmaking team prepared for this type of weather and had guns running at full blast last week, we can see the mountain is starting to take a hit from this weather. It shows that there is significantly less snow than there's been in a while due to warm temps, melting, and high traffic. It's definitely tough to see more grass than snow across the mountain, but keep in mind that January is approaching and it will only get better from here. ❄️

Today's Quick Facts:

🏔️ Trail Count: 51/122

🚡 Lift Count: 17/20

🧤 Suggested Gear: Waterproof Helly Hansen

We have yet to lose any trails, but tomorrow's snow report may say differently. Our snow reporter, Riley Karl, noted that there are lots of orange poles marking up brown spots on the trails. 🥕 She says to keep an eye out for them through the fog, as they can tend to sneak up on you. Our advice is to lower your speed and take the knolls with caution when riding through fog. Guests were often seen soaked from head to toe today, and it's hard to say how well even the best poncho could hold up in this weather. ☔️

If you were out on the mountain today, your dedication did not go unnoticed. We realize many of you decided to spend your holiday break here at Okemo, and we apologize on Mother Nature's behalf that it's probably not the kind of precipitation you were hoping for. ☃️ On the bright side, we aren't forced to see on that east coast ice, instead we have incredibly soft snow and short lift lines. The crowds were moderate today, but we imagine more folks will turn out closer to the new year.

Pro Tip: Watch for orange poles on the slopes tomorrow, marking off sketchy terrain. ⚠️

Overall, we did hear that some of you thought the conditions exceeded your expectations. 😯 I don't doubt this because Okemo's Mountain Ops crew is seriously the best. The trails still have decent base depths, as pictured in Nor'easter above, so there's still good coverage all things considered.

Looking ahead, Thursday and Friday will not be helping our case with more rain in the forecast. Temperatures will remain in the high 30s and low 40s, so there is little chance the rain will turn to snow. Once Saturday rolls around, we will hopefully get some snowfall, finally! Right now, it seems the snow will hang around in the morning and then die off, but here's to hoping we get three+ feet (it's ok to be greedy, we still have 363 days to show Santa we are good people). 🤞❄️
