Good morning Unofficial Squad, it's Noah! After a few days off snow, it was finally time for me to get back at it. 😅 It’s been a busy few days for me so I needed a little fresh air and some exercise. The holidays can be exhausting and I was feeling it, so I knew I needed a buddy or two to ensure I got out this morning. Fortunately, my besties Hannah and Cole were there to keep me honest. Keep reading to hear about today's snow conditions and our Jackson Gore uphill trip. ⬇️

Cole and Hannah hiking up Lower Limelight

Today, we switched things up and decided to hike Jackson Gore, which was recently opened for uphill travel. 🎉 It was a very different feeling walking through the stone archways just before 6 a.m. (If you were wondering why we started late it was because I took a few extra minutes getting out of bed.) 😴

It was a warm and foggy start, the snow was soft, and the layers came off quickly. 🥵 Today was Cole’s first hike of the year and he was leading the charge. Lower Limelight is a bit steeper than what we normally climb but it was a welcomed change. As we made our way up, it it obvious the mountain is lacking snow. Coverage was thin in places so be sure to be careful out there. Ski Patrol does a great job marking any hazardous spots but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pay attention. If it wasn’t so dark out I would have thought we were skiing in April. 🌷

Today's Quick Facts:

🏔️ Trail Count: 50/122

🚡 Lift Count: 17/20

⛷️ Today's Ski: Nordica Enforcer 94 Unlimited

🎿 Today's Boot: Nordica Unlimited LT 103 DYN

🧤 Today's Gear: Helly Hansen

Pro Tip: When drying out your gear, remember to put your footbeds back in your boots…it makes skiing difficult (learn from my mistakes)...

We made it to the top of the Quantum Six in short order and got some views with the fog sitting in the valleys. No sunrise, but we didn’t expect much with the gloomy weather we have been having. 🤢

Our ski down was fun, with somewhat firmer snow on the top and softening up as we descended. We had low visibility due to low light at this hour of the day, some fog, and some misting but we were skiing so we had that going for us. 🥽

Overall, the conditions are not what we all would hope for right now but there is snow and we get to ski. Yes, it is thin and soft but once again, we get to ski. I have had the pleasure of speaking with several guests who are here for the week and they have all been making the most of it. As East Coast skiers we are used to crappy weather, rain, ice, wind, and just a handful of bluebird powder days. Hats off to all of you who are making lemonade with lemons. 🍋

We do have the chance of some snow flurries tonight into tomorrow. ❄️ It is doubtful it will accumulate but seeing some snow falling is very exciting. Snowmaking weather also is making a return which is much needed. We know the Mountain Ops Team will be taking advantage of any chance they have to get us back on track!
