45. Tuesday, February 7th

Today is National Send a Card to a Friend Day... so here it goes.💌

Dear Beloved Subscriber,

I'm writing to you on this bluebird Tuesday to let you know that if you didn't get out on the mountain this morning, well, I feel sorry for you. I hope you can live vicariously through our snow report today and that your incredible amount of jealousy doesn't get the best of you. I know it might be hard for you to read this while you're sitting at your desk knowing that I've already got eight runs under my belt. I'm sipping hot cocoa with my feet up by the fire thinking about you... you poor thing. If you like the snow report today, please do us a favor and forward it to a friend because we could really use your help around here.

Thinking of you always and sending my warmest wishes,

The Unofficial Okemo Team 💋

Okemo Mountain Snow Report
The cherished view from the true summit of Okemo!

Good morning skiers and riders! Happy Tuesday from our sun-filled office. Our snow reporter, Jessie, hit first chair this morning to bring you today's snow report. Jessie is a Mount Holly resident, the Town Rep for the Rutland Regional Planning Commission, a ski enthusiast, and a Program Evaluation Consultant (yes, she's very legit). We're stoked to have her on board to gather intel, so keep reading to hear more about Jessie's ski day!

There wasn't a cloud in the sky as Jessie threw her car into park at the Jackson Gore base area. The warm-up run of the day, Vortex to Quantum Leap, got her legs cooking and ready for more thanks to that pristine corduroy. 🍳 Next, she ripped down Sunset Strip and traversed to the Sunburst Six via Mountain Road and Lower Arrow. There was quite a line for a midweek ski day, but can you blame them for wanting to get out on a sunny day like today? 🕶️ She noted that the lifties were moving the groups along nicely and there were folks in every chair; not always the case for a Tuesday. The small crowd didn't bother her though, because the singles line was her express route today.

Upon summiting, she decided to cut into Turkey Shoot and make her way over to SouthFace via Sprint/Rimrock/Cat Nap. Which reminds me...when are they going to install a magic carpet on Cat Nap?! When she made it to the sunny side of Okemo, the SouthFace trails were calling her name including Rimrock, Lower Wild Thing, Blind Faith, and Dreamweaver. She enjoyed her first run on Dreamweaver this season with perfectly groomed and smooth terrain and it was completely empty.

As only the cool kids do, she left SouthFace via Sun Dog to Rimrock and hiked up to the top of the Glades Peak Quad at 10:30 a.m. The quad is closed today and there were no other tracks in sight, which meant Jessie was the first person to reach the peak today. The sweeping views of blue sky and mountains for miles made the short hike worth it - not to mention the buttery soft untouched corduroy as she made her way down Buckhorn. Sweet Solitude brought her down to Exhibition and then got some sugary turns on Screamin' Demon. To wrap up her day, she rode the Solitude Express Quad and took a chill run down Coleman Brook to Sidewinder and then cut under the tunnel to Jack-a-Lope to Southern Crossing. Do you think she managed to get enough skiing done in only two hours?

Jessie's trail pick of the day is an easy one: Blind Faith. Though it is one of her top-five trails anyway, it was in particularly nice shape today and perfect for wide carving turns. Dreamweaver was a close second which means SouthFace was clearly the spot to be today. She might be a tad biased because her favorite kind of trails are steep groomers, which you can often find at SouthFace.

Pro Tip: Don't forget about the singles line at the Sunburst Six! Get your hot laps in.

Overall, today turned out to be a treat for anyone out on the slopes. Well, really for anyone whether you are on your computer by the window as the light pours in or out for a walk with the dog. There wasn't a single cloud in the sky to start the day and some wispy clouds have settled in for a beautiful skyline. Thanks for joining us and thanks again to Jessie for today's snow report.
