48. Saturday, February 11th

Snowflakes are falling, love is in the air, and you subscribe to the most epic snow reporting community known to mankind, so I'd say we're off to a great start for our weekend here at Okemo! To kick off the Hallmark holiday, today is the Valentine's Day Scavenger Hunt on the slopes. ♥️ Cupid buzzed around the mountain last night and hid several red hearts along the ski trails and if you find one, bring it back to the Guest Services desk to win a prize! I heard they are giving out heart-shaped hot tubs and a Walkman loaded with Lionel Richie's 'Endless Love'... but that could just be a rumor. Now, back to Noah with today's snow report and conditions update!

Okemo Mountain Snow Report
Burning off the Friday night calories on their hike this morning!

Good morning UO fam! It's Noah here with today's update. Saturday morning is my favorite day to hike Okemo because you get to start your weekend on the right foot (or ski in this case). Felix, Mike, and I began our uphill tour catching up and solving all the world’s problems. By the time we got to Upper Arrow, the talking had stopped as we had to push on through the active and noisy snowmaking. By the time we got to the top of Sapphire at 6:40 a.m., they had begun the process to shut down the guns to allow the groomers to clean up all the fresh snow. We didn’t get a sunrise today, but the monochrome views were a solid second. You could tell the sun wanted to break through the clouds with a skinny strip of pink in the distance. It was blustery at the summit but the bubbles were spinning, which is always a good sign.

We skied down amid some snow flurries, maneuvering our way through the piles of man-made snow until we hit some fresh corduroy on Lower Arrow. It wasn’t the best early-morning ski day we've had, but we got first tracks and saw some friendly faces along the way. There was a group of folks who were giving this uphill skiing thing a shot with rentals from The Boot Pro! If you are interested in trying out this crazy sport, that's a great way to get started.

Pro Tip: Lift tickets are sold out today, so we expect the mountain to be busy. Put on your patient pants and enjoy the moment.

Today's Quick Facts:

🎿 Trail Count: 117

🚡 Lift Count: 19

🔫 Snowmaking Last Night: Countdown, Sapphire, Upper Arrow, & Sweet Solitude

🌡️ Mid-20s to Low-30s: Partly cloudy clearing up for blue skies this afternoon!

The morning is unfolding for an ideal ski day! We will have temps in the 20s across the mountain. We are experiencing some snow flurries as we write this, but we are anticipating partly cloudy skies today with some mild wind. It looks like the clouds break later in the day for some sunshine.

Good news! 🗞️ Daytime Uphill Travel will be permitted today! The approved route is Homeward Bound, crossing over at Open Slope to Chief. Stay safe and have fun out there.

It's Saturday, so you know what that means: Après Afternoons! Enjoy live music by Rhys Chalmers by the firepits while your kids romp around at the Snowtubing Park and the Mountain Coaster. Grab a drink at the Last Chair Slopeside Bar or a quick bite. All happening today at the Jackson Gore Courtyard from 2 to 5 p.m.
