53. Tuesday, January 23rd

Hey readers! Jessie here with your Tuesday snow report. I was a little nervous about today's conditions after reading Abby's Ice Coast report from Sunday, but the snow has recovered nicely and it was a great day on the mountain!

I rolled up to Jackson Gore pretty late this morning, ready to pay the price with a distant parking space and long walk from the car. Instead I got the best gift - an awesome parking spot that had just been vacated by someone who is more ambitious than me and got to the mountain much earlier. 🚗 It was going to be a good day! 😁

It's warmed up quite a bit since last week, and I enjoyed today's pleasant temps in the 30s after freezing my toes off last time I was out. The skies were overcast but visibility was pretty good across most of the mountain - only the very top of the summit was in the clouds. ☁️ With a whopping 116 trails, Okemo is over 95% open today!

I headed up Coleman Brook and hopped over to the Quantum Lift - shoutout to the dancing lifty at Quantum doling out fabulous vibes to one and all! 🎵 My first run on Vortex and Quantum Leap was glorious - but I'll admit my bias since they are some of my favorite trails! Both were a little scrape-y in the middle but had lots of nice sugar to play in on the sides - I always try to keep to the outside edge on Vortex. I guess I must have really enjoyed this run because even with limited time to ski I hit it twice.🥰

Today's Quick Facts:

🏔️ Trail Count: 116/122

🚡 Lift Count: 11/20

⛷️Today's Ski: Nordica Santa Ana

After my first run at Jackson Gore I headed over to Solitude via Sunset Strip and Mountain Road. I was glad to see that Mountain Road was in great shape after some icy conditions a few days ago. I was even more excited to hit Sidewinder for the first time this season! 🎉Sidewinder was fabulous - well groomed and far from the skating rink it had been on Sunday. From there I headed down Jack-a-lope, able to take some speed through the tunnel for the first time this season (thank you, Sidewinder!). I had a blast on Southern Crossing following a lesson of adorable tiny skiers down, and then called it a day after a few short runs.

Pro Tip: Remember to turn your bluetooth on if you're using your phone as your ski pass! As a millennial, I really have no excuse for being this tech challenged...

If I’m honest with myself; I didn’t really have time to ski today. I took all of three runs, and then had to join a meeting from the parking lot because I wasn’t going to make it home in time. I think I actually spent more time in the lot during my 1 hour meeting than I did on the slopes - but I'm still so glad I got out there! It's amazing how much some time on the snow can brighten your spirits and make the rest of a busy day a little better. 😊

" ...” - Jessie 🙄... realized I didn't speak a word to anyone during my solo ski day today! Note to self: stop taking the lift alone or my reports are going to get boring. 😆

Please follow the Uphill Travel Policy at Okemo, follow the rules, and be cool about it.
