62. Wednesday, March 1st

Did you know that March is typically the snowiest month in Vermont? 🍀 The forecast is off to a promising start with a snowstorm on the horizon for this weekend, so let's keep our fingers crossed for freshies. 🤞 March also brings longer days with more sunshine, more moderate temperatures, and the snow conditions are at its finest with a base depth of 100+ inches. Longer days mean more time for après, and that's all we really care about.

Today, our trusty snow reporter, Jessie, took herself out on a date with the mountain and skied all day long. Today was a special one because 100% of Okemo's terrain was open for the first time this season (it's about time, Ledges). 💯 Sending it over to her for the breakdown below!

Happy March, readers! Jessie here with your Wednesday snow report. After being sick last week (resulting in way too much time off the snow ❤️‍🩹), my husband Ryan and I were more than stoked to get back out on the slopes this morning! Getting this report to you a little later in the day because we just couldn’t. stop. skiing. After a slow start to February, Mother Nature has finally turned the snow back on over the last week and the mountain is in fabulous shape! ❄️

We started our day at Jackson Gore with a leisurely run on Tuckered Out. Once we warmed up, we had a blast bombing Vortex and Quantum Leap before heading over the bridge to Mountain Road and Sidewinder. 💨 Our friend on the lift mentioned that South Face (our go-to) was a little crowded in the morning, so we hung out at Solitude (no lines) for a while with some great runs on Exhibition, Boomerang, Heaven's Gate, and Screamin’ Demon.

Next, we scooted over to the Sunburst Six for some mid-mountain runs. World Cup was in amazing shape and was easily our favorite run of the day! 🤩 Continuing our journey across the mountain, we hit Turkey Shoot, Countdown, and Catnap on our way over to South Face. Rimrock, Blind Faith, and Dreamweaver were all in great shape. Then we headed down Sun Dog and got our cardio in climbing up Rimrock to take Buckhorn back towards Jackson Gore. 🥾 We couldn’t resist grabbing a couple more runs at Solitude before calling it a day and heading down Jack-a-lope back to the car. Topped it all off with a chocolate waffle, because why not? In our family, the rule is that you have to “earn” your waffle (at least 10 runs), which we sure did today! 🧇

Pro Tip: Pack food in your jacket so you can take advantage of the empty slopes at lunchtime! We keep premade PB&Js in our freezer for grab and go ski snacks. Once 12pm rolled around and folks turned in for lunch we skied right on to every lift! 🥪

Today's Quick Facts:

🎿 Trail Count: 122/122

🚡 Lift Count: 12/20

🔫 Snowmaking: 💤

❄️ Snow: 2" in the last 24 hours

We might get a little mixed precipitation tomorrow, but it looks like we have a decent storm coming on Friday night into Saturday, so get pumped for this weekend! Today was warm and overcast and tomorrow should be similar (plus a little precipitation but should only be a slight coating). Not sure about you, but March is one of my favorite months of the season, and it’s off to an awesome start!

"Squeezing a full ski day in was extra sweet after taking some unplanned time off! I missed you Okemo!" - Jessie🤗
