69. Saturday, February 17th

Happy President's Day Weekend, Un-Okemo's! It's Jessie coming to you with your afternoon snow report. My husband Ryan and I had a fabulous day on the mountain - which is why this report is coming to you so late in the day! Today was a real treat with great conditions and a mix of sunshine and snow showers.☀️🌨️ Good ski weather doesn't always line up with our biggest holiday weekends, and I'm thrilled that all of our visitors got to experience Okemo at its best! 😁

We're excited to welcome our newest patrons, Burt and Susy Wilkins! Thank you for your support - you keep us going. 💖

We chose Tuckered Out for our first run of the day and weren't disappointed! Even though we didn't arrive until around 11:30, there were still plenty of freshies to be found on the edges thanks to this morning's snow. ❄️ Our next run took us down White Lightning to Quantum Leap, which were both in fabulous shape. After getting our fill at Jackson Gore we headed over towards Malfunction Junction, which lived up to its name today. 😂 Consider this your friendly reminder to go slowly as you cross the bridge - but don't stop altogether!

Mountain Road felt a bit more like a freeway today, but what can you expect on one of the biggest weekends of the year? Just take it slow in crowded areas and give everyone some space. 😊 In all honesty, crowds felt pretty manageable today compared to the total mob fest I had expected. 👍🏻 Okemo is doing an amazing job managing the crowds this weekend, and our longest wait was less than 5 mintues ⌚ (because we know which lifts to avoid 😉 see below). Before leaving the Solitude area we hit Sidewinder and then Heavens Gate - both had plenty of wide open space with just a couple areas where some crowds tend to gather (I'm looking at you, Sidewinder headwall!).

Today's Quick Facts:

🏔️ Trail Count: 121/122

🚡 Lift Count: 20/20

⛷️Today's Ski: Nordica Santa Ana

We were ready to head towards SouthFace (our go-to spot), but knew to avoid the bubble lifts on a busy day like today. We cruised past the bigger lines at Evergreen and Sunburst, and skied right on to the Sachem Lift feeling pretty smug. 😎 From there we scooted over to the Glades Peak Lift and arrived at the top of SouthFace without waiting in a single line. Blind Faith and Lower Wild Thing were both a dream - I'm going to say they're tied for our favorite run of the day. 💙

After finishing up at SouthFace we were ready to take our favorite long run back down to the car at Jackson Gore. We headed down Sun Dog and hoofed it back up Rimrock to reach Buckthorn. From there we went all the way down via Sweet Solitude, Coleman Brook, Sidewinder, Jack-a-lope, and finally Southern Crossing. We rounded out our perfect day with a quick bite at Killarney before heading home (try the fish tacos and thank me later!). 🌮🍻

Pro Tip: The singles line is your friend this weekend! Make some new buddies and speed through lift lines like a pro. 🏆

Reposting Abby's great tip list from yesterday! Prepare for a busy weekend & week here at Okemo thanks to the new snow and vacation time on the horizon. 🏝️ Here are some of my favorite tips to navigate busy times as a seasoned local:

  • Pack your own lunch and skip the cafeteria line

  • SouthFace, Morning Star, and Solitude typically have lower lift lines

  • Be strategic about your trail choice to NOT end up at the Sunburst

  • Pack those patient pants

  • Go with the flow; it's not that serious

  • Park at Jackson Gore for a less-hectic environment

  • Get in line at 7:45 a.m. for first chair at 8 a.m.

  • Eat at off-peak hours and ski during lunchtime for less crowded trails

That being said, Okemo has done a great job managing crowds this year, better than ever in my experience. Download the Epic App to track lift wait times, too!

"I didn't realize I was riding the lift with a celebrity!" - New friend from the Quantum lift (after hearing we were with Unofficial Okemo) 😎

Please follow the Uphill Travel Policy at Okemo, follow the rules, and be cool about it.
