74. Wednesday, March 15th

I wasn't going to write a report today, but then a few things happened. 1) The mountain was empty, so there's probably a lot of subscribers that want to hear about the 31" of new snow & 2) The skiing blew my heated socks off and I simply can't gate-keep my epic ski day from you. 🤯 I call days like today a "Self Care Ab Day" where I go skiing because I can, sit in my pajamas by the fake Netflix fire because I want to, and drink countless cups of hot cocoa because I need to (and throw in a little WFH in there). 👩‍💻 The cherry on top of my self-care sundae will definitely be the skiing though... I basically have no words for how phenomenal the mountain is right now, but I'm sure I can come up with something. Keep reading for more! ⬇️

Okemo Mountain Snow Report
Come and get it!

In true Abby fashion, I began my morning at Jackson Gore and was on the first few chairs at 9 a.m. which seriously paid off. I hit my typical warm-up run down White Lightning to Quantum Leap and I was "yeeeewww!" -ing all the way down. The snow was deep, going past the top of my ski boot, and there were no other tracks on White Lightning. I passed a group heading into Supernova but decided to hit the untouched and wide-open trail instead. It was surreal as I floated on top of the deep snow and made effortless turns in probably 8" of powder. 🙌 Linking into Quantum Leap, the trail was well-skied by others but I made turns through the moguls on the skier's right and felt the deep thigh burn begin. That run will remain in my book as the top-five best runs of the year.

I did something different today and scheduled a content shoot with our sponsor, William Raveis Vermont Properties, and skied most of the slopeside condominium complex trails (video coming soon) with Real Estate Agent, Kevin Barnes. We typically don't cover beginner trails in our reports, but I can say that skiing on Kettlebrook, Ledgewood, Promenade, Bull Run, and Open Slope was insanely enjoyable, serene, and beautiful. 🤩 I snapped today's photo at Ledgwood and had to share this wind-blown mountain of snow!

Pro Tip: The SouthFace lift was closed yesterday and had a delayed opening today, so if you're skiing right now, don't want but RUN to that side of the hill for the best snow!

Today's Quick Facts:

🎿 Trail Count: 122/122

🚡 Lift Count: 11/20

❄️ Storm Total: 31"

Today is a great day to stay on steep terrain and in the trees. If you've got beginners or children, don't be afraid of bringing them on steeper runs because the snow will naturally slow them down. Use your discretion here, of course, but they might have more fun if they have more speed. The trails will definitely get bumped up but I can't imagine you'll find any signs of scratchy/skied-off areas or ice because the trails are buried in fresh snow. Enjoy it and bask in this glorious snow today! ☃️
