Welcome back to another episode of Monday Motivation with Abby! 💪 This is your reminder that you can handle whatever this week throws at you. Whether that's trying to focus at work while your online friends are skiing or attempting a new excuse to take a "sick day" and enjoy a long weekend on the hill. Whatever your struggle is, just know that your friends at Unofficial Okemo are here to support your ski needs. 🙌 Feeling motivated now? Well after today's snow report, you should be.
When the forecast shows blue skies, no clouds, and temps in the 30s, you better believe I'm clearing my schedule and enjoying a self-care day on the slopes. 🧖♀️ My husband and I had ourselves a lovely date on the mountain today, but it all started at 8:30 a.m. when we decided to let the snow soften up for a few more hours. It was cold overnight with temps in the low-20s and probably in the teens on the hill, so I figured it would be best to let the sun warm up the ground for that ideal carve-able snow we all love (spoiler alert: I was right). 🧈
In the meantime, we stopped into The Boot Pro to pick up my freshly-tuned skis. ⛷️ Owners, Shon and Alex, greeted us and offered up a demo ski for the day instead, and when the masters of skiing tell you to try out a pair, you say yes. Shon hooked me up with the Stockli Nela, a ski I have never tried before, and of course, it matched my pink outfit... because that's what really matters. 🎀
Arriving at 11 a.m. with my sparkling demo skis in tow, we launched out of Jackson Gore and hit White Lightning, Vortex, Quantum Leap, Upper & Lower Limelight, and Tuckered Out. I was instantly shocked by the difference the Stocklis had on my form. When I tell you that I felt like Mikaela Shiffrin combined with Buzz Lightyear with a jetpack, I'm not exaggerating. These skis pulled me into turns with ease...it's like they have a mind of their own gliding you into big carves. 🤩 I trusted the ski immediately and my ski boots even felt more comfortable in this faster ski. I felt like I was locked and loaded, ready to live out my little girl race dreams.

During our perfect picnic lunch outside in the Jackson Gore courtyard, we met The Towns Family, our new friends and long-time subscribers. 👨👩👦👦 They were interested in how long it takes to hike to the summit (about one hour) and were impressed by Noah's motivation (that goes for me too). This Boston family was doing Monday the right way by getting out of the city and relaxing in the sunshine on the slopes. Cheers to you, fam!

The rest of the day was glorious. The snow was softening and chopping up quickly in high-traffic areas but was very smooth and easy on the less-traveled terrain. My trail pick of the day is surprisingly Daybreak; a green circle that leads you through the Solitude Village homes, over two bridges, and down to the quiet Morning Star Triple. 🟢 This trail is usually overlooked, so it was in perfect condition for me to do some deep carving with no bumps or mashed potatoes. Exhibition, Screamin' Demon, Coleman Brook, and Moonshadow were all top-notch and I found each trail enjoyable in its own way. Today was one for the books because my goggle tan is looking good, my Vitamin D has been refilled, and those Stockli skis were simply out of this world. Now I just need to figure out how to make those skis a tax write-off... 🤔
"Dang, you make it look easy on those skis!" - Danny 🥰
