79. Thursday, March 7th

Good evening, Unofficianados! 👋 This is Abby popping to serve up your late-Thursday snow report. We've got a special one for you today by OMS athlete and student, Keira! 🏂 It was a bit of a wet morning at Okemo but the skiing is still as fun as ever. Silky smooth and soft carving turns plus no lift lines sounds good to me!

Noah mentioned something yesterday that I think is important to share with our readers; these are the times when the snowmaking efforts from early-winter pay off. 🙌He's right! Okemo's snowmaking team gave us a great base, so let's just hang tight and lean on that base to get us through the tough times.

We have 2 NEW PATRONS! 🎉 Thank you to Galen King and The Therriens for supporting us. Your contribution to our free snow reports means everything to us. 💜

Hey guys, I’m Keira and I'm an OMS snowboarder. This morning I headed out to the slopes at about 8:30, the rain hadn’t really started yet. Temps were cooler than they have been the past week and a half. 🥶 It started to rain a little bit at around 9:30. The rain never really picked up. The snow was a little on the slushy side today but overall the snow was pretty good (where there was snow 😂).

Due to all the rain this past week, coverage wasn’t as good as it has been. At the top of the bubble, there was definitely some fog. The fog stayed at the summit for most of the day, which I had no complaints about. 👍

My teammates and I rode Timberline after we took the bubble up. It had a few patches of dirt and ice but the snow was pretty nice everywhere else. When we got to the top of Blackout, it looked like it was going to be good. Once we got over the first roller we discovered that most of the trail was overtaken by dirt. We had about three feet of snow to ride down on. 😮

On the other hand Sel’s Choice was covered with snow. 👍 Even the moguls had a good amount of snow on them. Some parts of the mountain might have been begging for snow but The Zone had plenty. I had quite a slam in the Half Pipe today. I am fully okay and it was actually really funny. I was doing a 360 in the pipe and when I landed my toe edge got caught in the slush. 👎 I fully belly-flopped and got the wind knocked out of me. Thankfully the rest of my body was okay because of the slush. Who knew that slush could be both the problem and the solution?! 😂

Today's Quick Facts:

🏔️ Trail Count: 87/122

🚡 Lift Count: 12/20

There is one good thing about the snow melting… you can find stuff that you dropped in the snow a while back. I was walking under the B Quad with a friend looking for her Icon Pass. Unfortunately, we did not have success, but we did find some interesting things. 👀

Overall today was a good day!! I am so thankful that I have a chance to experience the good and bad days with OMS!!!! I have never loved snowboarding more!! Praying for the snow to stay!! - Keira

Pro Tip: When you’re  scared of something, push through it; it'll likely end up being fun!

Thank you, Keira! Respond to this email and tell her what you enjoyed about her report! 👏 We love our OMS takeovers.

This wet weather is a great opportunity for me to remind you that our friends at The Boot Pro have Helly Hansen gear to keep you dry. My HH shell has been my go-to on and off the mountain over the last week. 🙏

I think it's important to note the closures that may impact your ski day. Snow Trak is currently closed, so keep that in mind if you're an owner and renter here. Upper Mountain Road is now closed, which is a bummer for beginners and those looking for some great views. Solitude owners and guests should be aware that Promenade, Rising Star, and Line Drive are currently closed. I hope to see these reopen this month after some snow & maybe even snowmaking? 🤞

Hang tight, skiers and riders. Potential snow is on the way! Pray for a Sunday storm! We will follow up on this weather update as we get into the weekend. ❄️

In other news, the Ludlow Farmers Market is hosting a Depot Street Block Party Fundraiser on 3/20 at 5 p.m. 🎉 Tickets are $20 online or $25 at the door. Your ticket gets you access to local food, cocktails, mocktails, live music, plus, Noah and Abby of Unofficial Okemo will be there with merch! Click here to get your ticket! 🚨
