81. Friday, March 24th

It's Friday at Okemo, where being a productive member of society has been thrown out the window because the spring skiing is in full swing and the sun is shining. 🌸 Our trusted leader, Noah, is taking a break from his early morning hikes (not because he's lazy, but because his dentist said so... long story) and instead, he's been enjoying some sun-filled chairlift laps. Today, he ditched his responsibilities as one does on a Friday and met up with some of his favorite ski buddies to give you today's report. Let's see how the snow faired after yesterday's rain. ⬇️

Okemo Mountain Snow Report
It's Sweatshirt Spring Skiing Season!

Fridays are typically like my Mondays, I have a plan for the day and by 10 a.m. that plan has fallen apart (mostly due to my desire to ski). The day started cold and cloudy and temps were just below freezing which meant the soft snow from yesterday firmed up and left the trails firm and crisp this morning. The SouthFace and Sunshine Quads were slightly delayed by 15 minutes due to the "conditions" per Okemo... so perhaps they were a bit iced over? Let us know. The sun eventually poked through the clouds as the day progressed, bringing with it the soft spring snow that we all love. 🌤️

By 1:30 p.m. I finally got my gear together and hit the hill. I met up with my friends Jackson (not Hole), Mike (with new skis), and Eilish (not Billie) who were out since 9 am a.m. so I have some intel on what was skiing well. They started out on the main face where the snow was still hard and needed a few hours to soften. They made their way over to Jackson Gore where they timed it perfectly because the snow was just softening up and Eilish found her trail of the day; Quantum Leap. 🚀 By the time I met up with them, the snow was nice and mushy mashed potatoes and ready for me to have some fun.

Pro Tip: Have you tried the fried pickles from The Bull? They are gluten-free! *Abby screams*

Today's Quick Facts:

🎿 Trail Count: 122/122

🚡 Lift Count: 12/20

⛅️ Weather: High-30s & Partly Cloudy

Spring skiing is a very different animal from mid-winter skiing, the snow is soft and heavy, and it bumps up very quickly. I love it because there are plenty of knolls to jump off and the snow is very forgiving... plus my Nordica Enforcers can power through all of it. 💪 My favorite trail today was Boomerang. They have left the whole trail ungroomed with moguls, just my style. This is the time of year to get your bump skiing in!
