You know what they say, a Sunday well spent brings a week of content. 🙏 If you're skiing at Okemo today, I think this will apply to you! Yesterday's weather ended up bringing the slopes 2 inches of snow which have been smoothed out nicely by Okemo's groomers to help with the firm and hard-packed conditions we skied on 24 hours ago. The mountain remains plentiful, with nearly 100% of terrain open! 🪄 At this time, Evergreen Express and SouthFace Quads are on hold, but when those open up, you should take Cat Nap over to SouthFace to get fresh tracks. In the meantime, Noah and his buddies hiked this morning so you don't have to! Here's what he has to say about the Sunday conditions. ⬇️
What a morning! ✨ It's Noah back again with your morning update. When the storm rolled in yesterday afternoon, my friend Claire and I were out on the mountain for a couple of laps and it was wet, windy, and our goggles started to glaze over. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what today was going to bring. Two others from my group of friends visiting this weekend, Karsten and Quinn, joined me for today's hike. We woke up to mild temps, a dusting of snow, and a fiery sliver of a sunrise. 😍 We started from Winterplace again today and headed up Arrow to Sapphire to reach the summit. The snow that fell last night was soft, luckily covering whatever icing layer fell yesterday evening. 🙌
It has been great to get back on the morning skiing routine. There's something special about spending time on the mountain in the early hours with your friends, getting first tracks, and feeling like you accomplished more than your other friends who are still sleeping at home. 😉
Pro Tip: Make sure you put your AT boots in ski mode before you go downhill. 😬
Today's Quick Facts:
🎿 Trail Count: 120/122
🚡 Lift Count: 18/20 (No Sachem or Glades Peak Quads)
💨 Weather: High-30s & Breezy & Cloudy
It was a bit breezy on the summit, but they had the Sunburst Six spinning already, which is a good sign. The sun had tucked itself over the low-lying clouds and the snow was soft. 🧈 The skiing conditions today will be a welcomed change to the firm, crisp surface from yesterday. Again, we are at that time of the year when the soft snow will get skied off quickly in high-traffic areas. 🚦 Get up here early and get after it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
