84. Thursday, March 14th

Happy Thick Snow Thursday! 🥔 This is Abby with today's snow report and clearly stretching to come up with a title with alliteration. 😂 Our snow reporter, Joe Karl with @raveisokemo can confirm that today's snow is thick mashed potatoes due to temps in the mid-50s. It's another spring skiing day with bluebird skies here at Okemo! 🐦

Hello, readers, it's Joe Karl here with your Thursday update. ⛷️ When I first stepped onto the trail, a woman yelled out, “Find the shade!”. At first, I thought, "sun protection worries? Is she worried about getting sunburnt?". 🥵

What she was really saying was to find the shade, because that’s where the better snow is! Out in the bright sun, the snow got pretty sticky. 🍭 Definitely think about getting the right wax from a local ski shop (like The Boot Pro or Tygart) for these next couple of days or spring skiing. 🕯️

Today's Quick Facts:

🏔️ Trail Count: 110/122

🚡 Lift Count: 12/20

There was plenty of great coverage; kudos to Okemo's mountain operations teams! 👏 We may see the snow cats move snow around as we hit this warm spell to keep trails in great shape.

Pro Tip: Goggle tans work better when you use sunscreen.

The warm temps haven't affected the trail count too much. 👌 There are obvious closures including Ledges, Challenger, Triple Sec, and Willie's Way. I was surprised to see Lower Moonshadow and Line Drive close, so keep that in mind if you're a Solitude owner or renter. Other than that, both SouthFace and Jackson Gore are only each missing one glades trail. We're looking good considering the unlikely March weather. 👏 Okemo is truly the best.
