Good morning everyone, Abby is in Portland for a few days celebrating Easter with her family so it's all Noah for a few days. 🎉 Yesterday was my first solo day, no big deal, right? Well, after Jessie put together a great report, I posted it and felt pretty good about myself. However, I forgot to send the email campaign...🤦♂️ so if you are wondering where yesterday's report was, you can blame me. You can check it out HERE if you are interested. Now onto today's adventure!
I had some company on today's early hike. Ted or Mr. Panasci to those of you attending Mt. Holly or Ludlow Elementary School, finally got off the race course and found a new way to enjoy the mountains. 🏔️ We started our journey at 5:30 am with the sun cresting the hills in the East and a dark blue sky getting brighter with each step. With the clear skies last night I knew today was going to be an amazing sunrise. 😎 It was a chilly start, temps were in the 20s, but the wind that we faced yesterday was nowhere to be found.
We reached the summit in a little under an hour, a solid pace, especially with a newcomer, but Ted is a PE teacher, so what else would you expect? The views were outstanding the fiery sunrise and views of the White Mountains in the distance never get old. 🌄 The snow on the downhill was firm, it setup after the spring snow yesterday but not a sheet of ice, it was very edgeable, frozen granular if we are talking technical terms. It will soften up as temps rise this morning and turn into that spring snow we all love so much.
Pro Tip: Check out 'The Eatery' a new cafe on Depot Street, their sausage, egg, and cheese fueled today's report!
Today is the first official day of Spring Break in my house, Rachel is off for a week and that means spring cleaning and spring skiing. After this report goes out we are grabbing our gear and heading back up to Okemo to take part in all of today's festivities. First up is the Slush Cup and Spring Fling. Cole and I will be attempting to make our way across the pond. 💦 Make sure to say hey if you see us out there! Après Afternoons will follow with live music, games, and face painting.
