Happy Easter everyone, however you celebrate I hope you are spending time with family and enjoying the sunshine. I am going to The Rustic Rooster for Easter lunch with my future in-laws. If you haven't been there before, it is worth the short drive out of town. 🐓 Lunch reservations meant I could get out on the slopes today to spend some time in South Face before it closes for the season. 😩
With South Face, Solitude, and Jackson Gore closing tomorrow I knew I wanted to spend my time over in South Face this morning. I haven't spent much time over there this year so I wanted to make sure I took advantage. When I got on the snow around 9 am the snow was already softening up, with the classic berms forming at the entrance of Catnap. 🐱 Lift lines were non-existent today as I made my way across South Face, checking off Dream Weaver, Off the Rim, Stump Jumper, Punch Line, and Wild Thing.
The snow was perfect for me and my budding Tele obsession. I spent some time in the bumps today, I think I finally got the hang of the moguls on this gear which is now becoming some of my favorite skiing. We are beginning to see more signs of spring as trails are developing bare spots. 🐻 My final run of the day took me down Double Diamond which was a blast, skiing around grass and exposed rocks is the epitome of spring skiing to me. As the day progresses trails will get more bumped up and the snow will feel heavier, but that's just what happens this time of year.
Pro Tip: Don't forget to drop off your skies to your local ski shop after your final day of the season, there is nothing worse than taking your gear out in November to find they are in desperate need of a tune. (We like The Boot Pro, just saying)
I want to give a shoutout to John McCoy, who stoped by our table at Harry's this weekend. I grew up skiing with his kids in Okemo's Young Mountain Explorers program (now Amplitude). John said he was up this weekend because of our reports which means a lot, he even mentioned my squeaky tele boots from this week's report so we know he is reading these emails thoroughly! 📖
