97. Tuesday, April 11th

It's the moment you've all been waiting for... Abby is back! Hello and good morning, everyone. I'm sure you missed my punchy intros and my top-tier spell-checking abilities (ahem, "skies" is the sky, and "skis" are what you use every day, Noah). 😉 I've spent the last five days in Portland, Maine, and traded in the mountains for the ocean, but now that I'm back in Ludlow, I'm ready to soak up the last few days of the ski season. As I return to my ski bum schedule, Noah took over for me this morning and did an early-morning hike. Welcome to your Tuesday snow report. ⬇️

Okemo Mountain Snow Report
Another day. Another sunrise.

It was the Ted and Noah show again today. We met in the parking lot around 6 a.m. to make our morning commute up Okemo. 🚗 It was a balmy start today with temperatures in the 40s at daybreak. It didn’t take long for me to end up in my T-shirt again. It didn’t get below freezing last night, but some trails had a slight glaze on the surface. Skiing didn’t pose any issues, but skinning did have its challenges on some steeper sections. When this happens, remember to keep even pressure across the whole ski and transfer your weight smoothly to retain your traction. If all else fails, find a snowmobile track where the snow is loose and grippy. 👣

We summited to a pale sunrise with clouds blocking the full color we have been used to. We are losing snow fast for sure, but we still have plenty to last us until Sunday! 🙌 The skiing down was a mixture of soft snow and slightly firmer snow but its pretty much soft snow all around. By the time the mountain opens, it will be primed for mashed potatoes skiing again. 🥔 With temperatures in the 60s and partly cloudy skies, it will be another fantastic day to get out and enjoy the remaining days of skiing and riding at Okemo.

Today's Quick Facts:

🎿 Trail Count: 65/122

🚡 Lift Count: 3/20

☀️ Weather: High of 60 & Cloudy

While the Solitude Express Quad is now closed, the upper trails of Solitude remain open including: Coleman Brook, Exhibition, and Heaven's Gate. You should check out these trails because it seems that the majority of guests don't know that they are open. These trails will dump you into Mountain Road for access back to the Sunburst Six.
