57. Thursday, February 23rd

Winter is back, baby! It's been a long time since we had a real snowstorm... January 31st was the last decent snowfall if you can believe it. Saying that we needed this storm is an understatement. The skiing hype was dwindling and guests were feeling uneasy with thoughts of a short season seeping in. However, Old Man Winter and Mother Nature got together last night over a bottle of wine and made ✨magic ✨happen. We woke up to 5" of freshies and we'll be getting free refills all day long. The entire Unofficial Okemo crew took advantage of the 8 a.m. opening this morning and got lots of untouched powder runs under their belt before 10 a.m. Here's how it went:

Okemo Mountain Snow Report
Noah, Danny, Abby, and Rachel on a powder day high! (& Hannah!)

Abby & Danny stayed true to their roots and started the day at Jackson Gore with an arrival time of 7:30 a.m. for VIP parking. Their first run of the day down the ungroomed terrain of White Lightning to the perfectly groomed steeps of Quantum Leap was out of this world. It was the perfect combo of burning your legs off on 5" of dense powder and cruising down smooth and buttery curves. Then something magical happened and they found themselves on Sidewinder with only two other tracks on it. This trail had less snow than White Lightning, probably 3", but it was groomed beforehand so it was quite literally the most soothing and relaxing run of their lives. It felt like a dream and was their top trail pick of the day and the entire season!

Noah and Rachel met up with Hannah at the Clock Tower base to hop in line with the other powder hounds waiting for the lifts to open. They linked up with their pal, Jen, and her two kids to make our first run on Defiance (IYKYK). The snow was dense, which made it feel heavy. The kids only had a couple of spills as they got their feet under them. It is a different type of skiing and riding with fresh snow...you need to lean back more and be ready for the inconsistencies. Then they made their way to Solitude to meet up with Abby and Danny. Heaven's Gate and Screamin' Demon were Noah’s trail of choice today. The snow was amazing, the knolls were just asking for someone to jump them, and they all had smiles on their snow-covered faces!

Most importantly, they took a quick trip down Daybreak to refill the Candy Mailbox and toss in some stickers. Then it was back up to ski some bumps on Sel's Choice and hit up the halfpipe, which is always fun with some fresh snow. After one more run they said their good byes to head off to work, shovel, and get on with our days. Refreshed and recharged by a powder day on the slopes with their closest friends.

Pro Tip: The Candy Mailbox is stocked up with Reeses & Snickers, plus, there are Unofficial Okemo STICKERS! Go get em while they last!
